You add your cities, drag the 24-hour slider, and every clock moves together. So you can see what 4 PM in London means in New York, Dubai and Tokyo in one go. It's handy if you work remotely, have clients abroad or have family in a different time zone. The day and night indicators make it pretty obvious when someone is asleep. It's on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and on Google Play for Android. ## Features - One reference time synced across every city - Interactive 24-hour slider - Day and night indicators at a glance - Automatic local time zone detection - 12-hour and 24-hour formats - Re-orderable city cards and a clean dark design ## FAQ ### Is Time Zone Pro free? Yes. Time Zone Pro is free to download and use. A one-time Pro unlock adds extra themes. ### Does Time Zone Pro work on Mac? Yes. Time Zone Pro runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs. ### Is Time Zone Pro available on Android? Yes. Time Zone Pro is on Google Play for Android, with the same slider, themes and one-time Pro unlock as on iPhone. ### Can I use Time Zone Pro to plan meetings across time zones? Yes, that's what I built it for. Add the cities of everyone on the call and drag the slider to a time. Time Zone Pro shows what that time is in every city, with day and night markers so you can see who would be asleep. ### Does Time Zone Pro support 24-hour time? Yes. Time Zone Pro supports 12-hour and 24-hour formats, and it picks up your local time zone automatically. ### How is it different from the built-in Clock app? The built-in Clock shows the current time in each city. Time Zone Pro lets you drag to any time and see every city update together, which is what you need when planning a meeting. ### Who made Time Zone Pro? Time Zone Pro is made by Shahid Shaikh, an independent app developer. I build and look after all my apps myself, for iPhone, Android and Chrome. You can reach me at shahid.sk27595@gmail.com. ## Related reading - [How to Schedule Meetings Across Time Zones Without Doing the Math](https://www.shahidshaikh.com/blog/how-to-schedule-meetings-across-time-zones) --- # Didnt > Didnt is a habit tracker for iPhone where you only check in when you miss a habit. In Didnt you only check in when you skip, write down how you felt and why, and start again. After a few weeks you start seeing what actually throws you off. That turned out to be a lot more useful to me than a counter that resets to zero. ## Features - Check in only when you miss a habit - Mood and reason logging for every miss - Written reflections to build self-awareness - Intentional, shame-free resets - Unlimited habits with custom icons and reminders - Home screen widgets ## FAQ ### How is Didnt different from other habit trackers? Didnt has no streaks. You check in when you miss a habit and reflect on why, instead of being punished for breaking a chain. ### Is Didnt free? Didnt is free to download. Premium unlocks extras like widgets. ### Does Didnt work on iPad and Mac? Yes. Didnt runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs. ### Can Didnt remind me about my habits? Yes. You can set reminders for each habit in Didnt, and give every habit its own icon. ### Who made Didnt? Didnt is made by Shahid Shaikh, an independent app developer. Custom Shopify themes, Liquid and Online Store 2.0 sections, speed fixes and headless stores for brands worldwide. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/services/shopify-developer - Contact: shahid.sk27595@gmail.com or https://www.shahidshaikh.com/contact My day job is building Shopify storefronts for direct-to-consumer brands at Anatta, a Shopify Platinum Partner. So Shopify is what I work in every single day. On the side I help a few brands directly. That could be a custom theme from scratch, new sections your team can edit on their own, or a store that needs to load faster on mobile. ## Why work with Shahid - Frontend developer at Anatta, a Shopify Platinum Partner, since 2024 - 6+ years building production frontends, including web products for Forbes at Media.net - I care a lot about speed. This site loads fast even on a slow phone connection ## What's included - **Custom Shopify themes**: I build themes from your Figma designs using Liquid and Online Store 2.0, with sections and blocks your team can change without calling a developer. - **Changes to your current theme**: Landing pages, better product pages, bundles, size guides, mega menus or anything your theme can't do yet. - **Speed and Core Web Vitals**: I find what is slowing your store down, like heavy apps, scripts and big images, and fix it. Faster stores sell more and rank better. - **Headless Shopify**: Stores built with Next.js or Hydrogen on the Storefront API, for when you need full control over design and speed. - **Integrations and migrations**: Hooking up reviews, subscriptions and analytics, or moving your store to a new theme without hurting your SEO. ## Stack Shopify, Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Shopify CLI, Storefront API, Hydrogen, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript ## Process 1. **A quick call**: We talk for about 30 minutes about what you want to build and when you need it. After that I send you a written scope, a timeline and a fixed price. 2. **Plan it out**: Before I write real code we agree on the screens, the flows and how it will be built. It saves a lot of back and forth later. 3. **Build**: I share preview links every few days so you can click around and give feedback while things are still easy to change. 4. **Launch and after**: I handle the release and check that everything works. I'm still around after launch for fixes and small changes. ## FAQ ### Do you work with brands in other countries? Yes. I work remotely with brands all over the world, including the US, UK, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. ### Can you work on my existing Shopify theme? Yes. Most of my projects are changes to an existing theme, like new sections, redesigned pages, speed fixes or bug fixes. ### How much does a Shopify developer cost? It depends on what you need. Small changes can take a few days and a custom theme usually takes 3 to 6 weeks. After a short call I send you a fixed price, so you know the cost before we start. ### Do you build headless Shopify stores? Yes, with Next.js or Hydrogen. But I'll tell you honestly if a well built Liquid theme would do the job better and for less. --- # App developer for iOS and Android > Hire Shahid Shaikh, a freelance app developer with SwiftUI apps on the App Store and an Android app with 100K+ downloads on Google Play. iPhone and Android app design and development, subscriptions, widgets and store launch for clients worldwide. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/services/app-developer - Contact: shahid.sk27595@gmail.com or https://www.shahidshaikh.com/contact I build and publish my own apps. For years I scheduled calls by doing the math in my head. "London is four and a half hours behind, New York is another five, so..." And I got it wrong more times than I'd like to admit. So here's the process I use now. It's simple, and it has stopped me from showing up an hour early (or late) to calls. ## 1. Start with the overlap, not the time Most people pick a time that works for them and then check if it works for everyone else. That's backwards. Write down everyone's working hours in their own time, then find the window where they overlap. For India and the US East Coast, that window is tiny: roughly 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM in India, which is 9 AM to noon in New York. For India and the UK it's much easier, because most of the UK workday overlaps with an Indian afternoon or evening. If there's no overlap at all, someone has to stretch. Decide who that is, and rotate it if the meeting repeats. It's not fair for the same person to always take the 11 PM call. ## 2. Pick one anchor city When you're juggling three or four cities, choose one as the anchor and say every time in that city's time first. Teams with people everywhere often use UTC because it never changes for daylight saving. The important part is that everyone knows which clock you're talking about. "Let's do 3" means nothing on a remote team. ## 3. Watch out for daylight saving weeks This is the trap that gets almost everyone. Countries don't change their clocks on the same day, and many (including India) don't change them at all. - **Europe** moves its clocks back on the last Sunday of October. This year that's **October 25**. - **The US** moves back on the first Sunday of November. This year that's **November 1**. So for one week, from October 25 to November 1, London and New York are only four hours apart instead of five. Every recurring meeting between them moves by an hour for one side, and calendars don't always make that obvious. From India it's even messier, because we don't change at all. Right now London is 4.5 hours behind IST. After October 25 it's 5.5 hours. If your weekly call with London is at 3 PM your time, it will suddenly be at 9:30 AM their time instead of 10:30 AM. The same thing happens in March, when Europe and the US move their clocks forward on different Sundays. ## 4. Remember half-hour time zones exist India is UTC+5:30. Nepal is UTC+5:45. Parts of Australia and Canada have half-hour offsets too. Lots of mental math assumes whole hours, and that's where the "wait, is it 4 or 4:30?" moments come from. ## 5. Send the time in their time zone When you propose a time, write it in the other person's time zone, or in both. "Does 10 AM your time (7:30 PM mine) work?" is much easier to say yes to than making someone convert it themselves. And always send a calendar invite. Calendars store the time properly and show it in each person's local time, which gets rid of most mistakes. ## The tool I made for this After getting it wrong enough times, I built [Time Zone Pro](https://www.shahidshaikh.com/apps/timezone-pro), a world clock for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. You add your cities, drag one 24-hour slider, and every clock moves together. So you can see what 4 PM in London means in New York, Dubai and Mumbai at the same time, with day and night indicators that make it obvious when someone is asleep. It handles daylight saving and half-hour offsets for you, which covers points 3 and 4 above. It's free on the App Store. But even if you never use it, the process above will save you from most time zone mistakes. Find the overlap, pick an anchor, watch the daylight saving weeks and say the time in their time zone. --- # How to Track Savings Goals Without a Spreadsheet > A simple system for saving toward several goals at once, like a laptop, a trip or a house deposit, without building a spreadsheet you'll stop opening after a month. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/blog/how-to-track-savings-goals-without-a-spreadsheet - Author: Shahid Shaikh (https://www.shahidshaikh.com/about) - Published: Oct 16, 2026 I used to track my savings goals in a spreadsheet. I made it, felt very organised, and then hardly ever opened it. Most budgeting spreadsheets die the same way: they take effort to update and they're not much fun to look at. What finally worked for me was making the system simpler, not more detailed. Here's how I do it now. ## 1. Give every goal its own name "Savings" is not a goal. "New laptop", "Trip to Turkey" and "Emergency fund" are. When each goal has a name, it's easier to say no to things that would eat into it, and it's much more motivating to see it fill up. Keep the list short. Three to five goals is plenty. If everything is a goal, nothing is. ## 2. Put a number and a date on each one For each goal, write down how much you need and roughly when you want it. Then work out the monthly amount: **(target − what you've saved so far) ÷ months left** So if a laptop costs ₹1,20,000, you've saved ₹30,000 and you want it in 6 months, you need ₹15,000 a month. If that number is too high, you've learned something useful. Either push the date back or lower the target. That's much better than finding out in month five. ## 3. Update once, on payday Don't track every coffee. Just update your goals once a month, right after you get paid. Move the money, update the numbers, done. It takes two minutes, which means you'll actually keep doing it. If you keep the money for each goal in one savings account, that's fine. You don't need a separate account for every goal, you just need to know how much of the total belongs to which goal. ## 4. Finish the closest goal first When you have a few goals going at once, it's tempting to split money evenly. But finishing one goal feels great, and that feeling keeps you going. Look at which goal is closest to done and push it over the line. The exception is an emergency fund. That one comes first, before anything fun. ## 5. Look at progress, not just numbers A row of numbers in a spreadsheet doesn't tell you much at a glance. A progress bar that's 80% full does. Seeing how close you are is most of the motivation. ## The app I made for this This is exactly why I built [Kif](https://www.shahidshaikh.com/apps/kif), a savings goal tracker for iPhone. You add your goals, update what you've saved, and every goal gets a progress bar. It shows you the next goal you can realistically hit and gives you a short summary in plain words, like which goals you've already reached and what's next. It supports multiple currencies, and it doesn't connect to your bank. You enter the numbers yourself, so there's no bank login and nothing to link. It's free on the App Store (it needs iOS 26). But the app is just a nicer way to do the system above. Name your goals, give them a number and a date, update on payday and finish the closest one first. That works on paper too. --- # Websites That Adapt to Reality, Not Memory > How I built a portfolio that rewrote itself every morning using Gemini, Claude and GPT, and why websites that update themselves matter for SaaS, docs and e-commerce. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/blog/building-a-website-that-rebuilds-itself - Author: Shahid Shaikh (https://www.shahidshaikh.com/about) - Published: Jan 2, 2026 > **Update (2026):** I stopped this experiment when I rebuilt the site from scratch. I still like the idea though. A few days ago on X I found this [article](https://eriks.design/posts/a-living-site) from Erik, it spoke about how to make a website that rebuilds itself. The idea was interesting and I wanted to try something similar as well. Erik's approach is honestly brilliant. Every day at 6 AM UTC, his site kicks off a GitHub Action that fetches fresh data from GitHub, Spotify, X, and even the weather. Then it runs four different AI models in parallel - Claude Opus, Composer, GPT Codex, and Gemini - each creating their own version of the site. The outputs get sandboxed to a `generated/` folder, archived to `public/builds/`, and deployed automatically. The site is live before he wakes up. What caught my attention wasn't just the automation, it was the idea that a website could be alive. Not in the "real-time updates" sense, but actually regenerating itself based on what's happening in your life. ## How Mine's Different I took the same core idea but adapted it to what I actually wanted to explore. Erik's running four models in parallel to compare their outputs side-by-side, which is fascinating if you want to see how different AI models interpret the same creative brief. I went a different route. Instead of comparing models, I wanted to see how different **personas** could tell the same story. So my setup runs five model variants sequentially: 1. **Gemini** - Standard generation with creative freedom 2. **Poetic** - Gemini as a poet who hates unnecessary words 3. **Claude Opus** - Claude's take with its own chosen persona 4. **GPT** - OpenAI's interpretation 5. **Poetic Hindi** - GPT as a Shayar speaking in Hinglish Every day at 6 AM IST, a GitHub Action kicks off and generates all five versions. The pipeline is straightforward: 1. **Collect context** - Gather prompts and site structure into `generated/context.json` 2. **Generate** - Run each model variant, creating content in `generated/[model-name]/` 3. **Verify** - Make sure nothing outside `generated/` was touched 4. **Archive** - Copy all builds to `public/builds/YYYY-MM-DD` and update the manifest 5. **Deploy** - Vercel picks it up automatically The whole thing runs in about 5-7 minutes. ## Why This Actually Matters The real insight here isn't about portfolios or automation. It's about websites that **adapt to reality without human interpretation**. Most websites are static snapshots of what someone thought was important when they last had time to update it. The gap between what's actually happening and what the website says grows wider every day until someone manually bridges it. This pattern flips that. The website becomes a living reflection of actual state, not remembered state. Think about what this enables: **For SaaS products** - Your landing page could regenerate based on what features you actually shipped this week. Not what marketing planned to highlight three months ago. The site reads your changelog, understands what changed, and rewrites the messaging to match. No more "coming soon" badges on features that launched last Tuesday. **For documentation** - Docs that rewrite themselves when your API changes. The AI reads your OpenAPI spec, detects breaking changes, and regenerates the affected pages with migration guides. Developers see accurate docs, not outdated examples that reference deprecated endpoints. **For content sites** - A news site that doesn't just aggregate headlines but synthesizes them. Every morning, it reads the day's events and regenerates its homepage with context-aware summaries. Not just "what happened" but "why it matters given what happened yesterday." **For e-commerce** - Product pages that adapt to inventory, seasonality, and trends. Out of stock? The page doesn't just say "unavailable" - it regenerates to suggest alternatives based on what people who bought this also looked at. Winter coming? The product descriptions shift tone to match the season. **For internal tools** - Company dashboards that don't need manual updates. The system reads Slack, GitHub, Linear, and meeting notes, then regenerates the "what's happening" page every morning. Teams see actual progress, not last quarter's roadmap slide. The pattern is the same everywhere: **pull real data, synthesize meaning, regenerate presentation**. No human sitting there interpreting what changed and manually updating copy. ## Why I'm Writing This I'm not trying to convince anyone this is the future of web development. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But it's a fun experiment that actually solved a real problem for me - keeping my portfolio a little dynamic. And honestly, there's something satisfying about waking up to a site that updated itself while you were asleep. It feels less like maintaining a website and more like having a small piece of the internet that evolves on its own. That's kind of the point. --- # I Realized No One Was Listening, So I Started Writing > On attention spans, being heard, and why I started writing instead of talking. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/blog/i-realized-no-one-was-listening-so-i-started-writing - Author: Shahid Shaikh (https://www.shahidshaikh.com/about) - Published: Dec 28, 2025 Ever since I started to ask some difficult questions around life like _why are we here_, _who made us_, _what is our purpose_. Those questions pulled me into a lot of knowledge - philosophy, religion, psychology, history, human behaviour. Most of it didn’t even answer those questions directly. It just changed how I started seeing everything else. I’ve lived my life with all this information in my head and never thought of expressing it through writing which I think is better than just talking because when you talk, you can see it - that tiny change in someone’s expression when they’ve stopped listening. They’re still looking at you, but they’re already somewhere else. Either waiting for their turn to speak or forming a response while you’re still talking Do people even listen anymore or do they just wait for their turn to speak? And since talking hasn’t really helped me express what I’m actually thinking, so I guess writing might? (I am just making assumptions may be you’ve already lost me on line six) At least here, I don’t have to look for that little shift in someone’s face that tells me they checked out five minutes ago. I can take my time. I can say what I mean properly. That said, even as I’m writing this, I’m aware of how short our attention spans have become, thanks to constant dopamine hits from social media. Well I guess my thoughts will just go unnoticed. Still, I’ll write. Maybe no one reads it today. Maybe it doesn’t matter. But maybe, a hundred years from now, when some future generation digs up old hard drives from a forgotten time, they’ll stumble upon this. _A small ruin of thoughts left behind by someone trying to understand why he was here at all. I think this sounds better_ --- # How a Simple Portfolio Website Changed My Life > How a simple portfolio website took me from night shifts in tech support to my first UI developer job. - URL: https://www.shahidshaikh.com/blog/how-a-simple-portfolio-website-changed-my-life - Author: Shahid Shaikh (https://www.shahidshaikh.com/about) - Published: Oct 9, 2025 In 2017, I started my first job as a technical support agent. The role involved interacting with clients through calls, chats, and emails. Working in rotating shifts every day was tough, especially the night ones. Despite that, I was genuinely happy. It was my first job, and earning ₹24,000 a month felt great at the time. During college, I used to build Android apps for fun. Development had always been something I was passionate about, and I thought I would do it for the rest of my life. But after about a year in technical support, I realised it wasn’t the right path for me. The constant interaction with people and the night shifts started to wear me out. That’s when I decided to switch careers and move into development. I began learning web development and slowly started to understand how websites are built, how CSS libraries work, and how JavaScript brings everything together. But I ran into a problem, my resume didn’t have any development experience, and I had barely any projects to show. To fix that, I started building small projects: CSS animations, simple web apps, and blog-style websites. Then another problem showed up. I needed a proper platform to display my work. Around that time, my company was offering free lifetime domain names. That’s how I got shahidshaikh.com, my first ever domain. Once I had my website up and running, things changed quickly. Recruiters started reaching out, and I noticed that many interviews happened purely because of how well my website showcased my skills. Even though my projects were simple, the website made them look professional and complete. Within just two or three months, I landed my first UI developer job.
